During the Mallannasagar project  compensation amount/package the confusion occured in the villagers  of Erravalli on Friday. The people also confusion over allocation of house numbers and allocation of house numbers separately for head of the family and sons, who have own family, in some cases and giving numbers with an oblique sign (/) for the sons, in Kondapaka mandal, officials were forced to intervene and tried to pacify the agitating villagers. This process led to the suspicion among the villagers that those given oblique numbering may not get compensation/package while those allotted individual numbers will get the package. Erravalli is one of the five revenue villages that would get submerged with other four villages being – Singaram in Kondapaka mandal, Pallepahad, Vemulaghat and Etigaddakishtapur in Toguta mandal. As this information spread like wildfire, more than 300 villagers gathered at the public meeting point to check whether they were given individual numbers or (oblique) numbers - (example: Venkanna gets house number 190, son No.1 gets 190/1, son No.2 gets 190/2). Some of the villagers even stalled the work stating that they need clarity on allocation of numbers. The officials took pains to explain to the agitating villagers that the process was meant for taking stock of number of houses and the persons residing in that and this was in no way connected to allocation of houses or sites at the rehabilitation and resettlement colony. The arguments continued till afternoon and finally the villagers decided to allow the work stating that they would be forced to agitate as in the past if injustice was meted out to them. “In our case my father was given main number followed by oblique numbers to me and my two brothers. We were informed that we have to share the ?7 lakh rehabilitation package amount, which naturally irritated us. In the case of another resident Vadla Narayana the family head and others were given independent numbers. We are suspecting foul play,” K. Shiva Kumar, a villager told The Hindu. Efforts by The Hindu to get clarification on the issue from the officials concerned were futile as they were not reachable even over phone.
