Miyapur-SR Nagar Metro trial by May

Hyderabad Feb 27 : Metro Rail project which is looking to commence its operations by mid-year between Miyapur and SR Nagar will complete the trial runs on this stretch by May.Trial run on this stretch has the Metro Rail logging a distance of 11 km in just under 20 minutes. A road journey on this dense traffic corridor at present takes anywhere up to 45 minutes and in peak hours even an hour.


Once the Metro Rail is available on this stretch, the services will not only cut down the commute time by at least 30 minutes but also ensure that commuters travel in air-conditioned ambience.All the 171 cars (57 trains) to be operated under the first phase on the three corridors have arrived and HMR authorities have been conducting trial runs to test any possible glitches.


“Between Miyapur and SR Nagar, the operations have been smooth and in fact, we logged the distance in about 19 minutes,” said an official. The trials have also monitored the time limit and keeping an eye on the train speeds that will provide the best commuting experience for passengers.“By all means the trail runs on this stretch will be completed by May and from then on administration related works will be taken up,” said NVS Reddy, Managing Director of HMR.


The HMR is putting in all efforts to launch the commercial operations on Miyapur-SR Nagar (11 km, corridor-I) and Nagole-Begumpet (16 kms, corridor-III) stretches during the middle of this year.This apart, works on being expedited to make corridor I from Miyapur to LB Nagar (29 km) and corridor III from Nagole to Hitec city (27 kms) fully operational by the end of this year. Likewise, operations on Corridor II will be extended upto MGBS during the middle of next year
